Polycrystalline Diamond PCD Blanks

Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD)

The indab-PCD range of Polycrystalline Diamond includes a wide range of PCD variants offering something for every application.

Having been a polycrystalline diamond supplier for several years now, we have a good understanding of what our customers need.  Our PCD materials have been developed to offer  the ultimate material for each application giving the diamond tool producer the options needed to meet the demands of their customers.

PCD Blanks – Standard

Our standard PCD blanks are made with a diamond layer thickness of 0.6mm fixed to a carbide substrate giving a total thickness of 1.6mm up to a maximum total thickness of 8.0mm.

Available in three PCD types and grades as follows.

PCD Polycrystalline Diamond Blank

Polycrystalline Diamond Types

  • DS – Regular PCD
  • DT – Extra Tough PCD
  • DH – Ultra Hard PCD

Polycrystalline Diamond Grades

  • 2-4µ micron
  • 8-10µ micron
  • 20-35µ micron

PCD Layer Thickness:

  • 0.6mm
  • 1.0mm

Total Thickness:

1.6mm to 8.0mm

PCD Blanks – Wear Parts + Thick Layer

Our wear part PCD has been designed specifically for wear parts however it is also being used in certain cutting tool applications due to the thicker PCD layer available in this material.  With a lower diamond content and special matrix the material is easy to grind yet it is tough enough to make a high quality wear part that can be re-ground if necessary.

PCD Blanks – Drill Tip

With the development of new composite materials for industries such as aerospace, new challenges are being faced in how to machine these materials.  The simple operation of drilling holes is one area that has required further material development.

Our PCD Drill Tip material (Commonly referred to as Sandwich PCD)  is one material developed due to new demands and has a layer of PCD in-between two layers of carbide allowing the material to be cut into small segments. These can then be inserted into the tip of the drill for easy grinding and faster production times.

Special Orders + Services

It is possible for us to offer special dimensions subject to feasibility within the production processes.  We can also supply pre-cut segments from a standard size selection or alternatively to drawing if you have special requirements.

Working with our material

All of our Polycrystalline Diamond can be cut using  Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) technology.  Cutting rates and required settings will naturally be different for each type of PCD due to the varying diamond content.

Fine edge finishing is also achievable with the correct grinding wheel combination.
